Behind The Curtain

Matt & Peregrine

Who is the man behind the curtain? Me! I'm Matt Borland, on the left with the peregrine falcon.

In my work life, I am someone who architects data solutions. I've created innovative solutions in financial services, manufacturing, education, and the military. I love getting to know a customer and the challenges they face, and apply technology to overcome those challenges. I have some technologies I enjoy using a lot, such as the Spring framework, but in general I am more interested in solving problems than in promoting a single technology.

The photo of me above is with a female Peregrine Falcon, a permanently injured bird in the care of the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program (www.rmrp.org), where I am a trained raptor handler. Raptors are remarkable creatures with both instinctive and experience-borne talents for hunting and survival. Peregrine Falcons of various kinds are found throughout the world and are cliff-dwelling birds that have in many cases adapted to urban environments.
